Banaman Chase 25th june 2006

here I am .... start of the race... 10km.. had I trained?? Nooo!!! I prevailed though and ran in a fantastic time of 1 hr 7 mins and 21 seconds... nearly cracking the 5km walk that Kerri and I did 2 weeks previously!! Had a lot of support from Kerri and Lisa cheering me on from the sidelines, YAY!!! B1 joined me for the 10km on the backpack, my constant companion for the past 6 years of travel.

Ended up exhausted and sore for a picnic afterwards with lotsa food and pimms to drink... mmm .... yum!

Anyway it's now 2 am on the 27th June.. devastated after our 1 - 0 loss to Italy!! BOO HOO!! Such a fantastic match.. that last penalty was a travesty!!! noooooooo!!!! Have had too many vodka red bulls to go to sleep... am kinda wired!! heh heh.... fun arvo though at the old Slug and Lettuce and then a few more sorrowful drinks at the Shep Bush Walkabout...so nice to visit the old haunts.....

So what's next?? .... Well we'll see.......

Tesco Race for Life 11th june 2006

All for Breast Cancer research. The race has been going for 8 years with over 1000 participants from all walks of life and nationalities. I was with Kerri and her school workmates walking along. Completedthe course in 1 hr 6 mins and 15 secs. Pretty good i thought for our casual strolling. Hampstead Heath is a massive park with lots of wooded areas and an outdoor pool to swim in. I certainly felt like it after the race today!! Another gorgeous day in London bright and sunny.. there should be more days like it!

After a lovely meal at Wagamamas in Waterloo T and I wandered with D along the banksof the Thames. It was a sunny evening so all the Londoners were out on the Embankment drinking and chatting. T cycled along on D's bike and i took photos. T and I left D at London Bridge and wandered across it to the Gherkin. I used to work in a Hogshead pub across the road from where the Swiss Re Building is today. In those days it was just a hole in the ground. This is going back 5 1/2 years now! The pub has certainly chenged. It'snow a rather cosmopolitan Slug and Lettuce with totally different seating and bar area. The chef was the same though. He recognisedmetoo! I guess I'mnot that easily forgotten....

Decided to get all dolled up for the evening. had a fab time catching up with pals and chatting to all. Drank 3 bottles of Pimms and 1 1/2 bottles of vodka. Consequently neither Kerri nor I were in any fit state to move the next day! Chrissie and Tenielle looked after us.. bless them!!

Mick and Kirsti were over for a day in London for some sightseeing before we flew to Latvia and Estonia. We took the Big Bus Sightseeing tour and ended up soaked with rain.. in London! fancy that! Saw some great London sights and trembled as we walked thru the London Dungeon... scary!! Watched Mamma Mia and sang along to the familiar hits. Off to Latvia the next day.

Great night out was had by all. We attended The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the New Wimbeldon Theatre and sang and Time Warped away. Sadly no rice or toast or water was allowed to be thrown around, it was a very civilised affair. Ended up at a Jim Thompson's restaurant for a Thai dinner... I was looking forward to eating crocodile, but sadly they had just run out.
